The 100 Languages Exhibition: An Australian Perspective
A day with Janet Robertson
18th September 2010 - 9.30am - 2.00pm
The Mining Exchange, 128 Lydiard Street North, Ballarat
The program will consist of two workshops. The first workshop is Culture is Everything: What are our 100 Languages? In this presentation, the idea of culture and the influences Australian educational culture has on our thinking, will be explored. We look at the world through cultural lenses and these lenses colour how we ‘see’ the child. In educational terms we see a pupil, student and child, but how are we seeing them? Through Italian eyes we can see what our lenses sometimes occlude.
The second workshop is Pedagogoical Documentation: What is it? This presentation looks at some examples of Pedagogical documentation: illustrating the philosophical and pragmatic elements within the work. Do we uphold children’s rights within this process currently? The journey taken by children, families and teachers is one which should be
captured, scaffolded and directed by Pedagogical documentation.
